As of November 1, 2025, State approval is required for Mobile Food Venders.
ATTENTION – MOBILE FOOD VENDERS WILL REQUIRE INSPECTION APPROVAL FROM STATE FIRE MARSHAL,
LP GAS ADMINISTRATION, AND THE STATE HEALTH DEPARTMENT
All food trucks operations will still be subject to a Norman Fire Marshal’s Office site inspection.
The Norman Fire Marshal’s Office will be verifying site safety as it relates to the State adopted 2018 International Fire Code, International Building Code, and local amendments.

Use of Generators: - Exhaust properly ventilated up and away from people, buildings and other cooking operations
- Located a safe distance away from people, buildings and other cooking operations
- Extension cords must be in good condition, sized for the correct use, not a trip hazard and not pinched at entry point into food truck
- Safe location of the fuel and safe refueling practices
Ensure that electrical appliances, fixtures, equipment, and wiring complies with the NFPA 70: - Electrical wiring must be in good working condition.
- Multi-plug adapters are not allowed.
- Extension cords are not allowed as permanent wiring.
- Open junction boxes and spliced wiring is not allowed.
- Give space (15 feet for fire hydrants and 10 feet for everything else).
- Don’t park in fire lanes or fire department access roads.
- Stabilize your food truck when its parked (wheel chocks or jacks).
These are basic requirements for food truck at any Norman Special Event. If these requirements are not met, the Fire Code Official may withhold approval. If deficiencies exist during vender site inspections, individual vender operation may be terminated.
